Canon 1DX Mark II New Autofocusing AF System
There are some info circulating the big camera forums about the new and improved autofocusing system of the Canon EOS 1Dx Mark II. We got some information from the Fred Miranda forum about some of the capabilities of the new 1DX. The user suggests that even with a 2x lens extender on a F4 lens the camera focusing system might be still able to track objects even at F8 and above.
Here is the news we got from the forum:
For me, the obvious feature of the 1DX Mk2 is its AF and tracking capabilities over the 1DX. Not only is the AF faster, when using a 2X TC on a 500/600mm f4 lens, the new camera will allow all focusing points to be active even when the effective aperture is f8. On the 1DX, only the centre AF point and 4 surrounding points (with AF area expansion) are effective. I understand there will also be a multi-frame silent shooting mode instead of the single shooting silent mode on the 1DX.
According the the previous news the we mentioned about the 1DX Mark II autofocusing system there are some similarities, but it doesn’t exactly match with the previous information. We guess time will show who is right and who is wrong.
